About the Event

8th March, 2024 will be observed as Maha Shivratri across India.

Maha Shivaratri is an annual festival dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is marked as the night of convergence of Lord Shiva and Shakti, and according to legend, this is the night when Lord Shiva performs the cosmic dance.

Shivratri is observed every month of the luni-solar calendar, but 'Maha Shivratri', which occurs only once per year, is considered especially auspicious.

Offerings of sweets, leaves, fruits and milk to Lord Shiva are made, and some perform all-day fasting.

Every year at Adhyatma Niketan, Maha Shivratri is celebrated with vim, zest and joy. The Sadhaks come together and Satsang is conducted, where there is a Study of scriptures (Swadhyay), followed by Shabds and Bhajans. Post this, Param Pujya Maharaj Ji offers a Pravachan (discourse), showering his blessings on all the devotees, following which, the Aarti is conducted. On the day following Maha Shivratri, Guru Pujan is conducted.
