On February 26, 2025, India will celebrate Maha Shivratri, an annual festival devoted to Lord Shiva. Maha Shivratri, regarded as the most auspicious of all Shivratris, marks the cosmic union of Lord Shiva and Shakti, and is the night when, according to legend, Lord Shiva performs his divine dance.


While Shivratri is observed monthly according to the luni-solar calendar, Maha Shivratri, occurring once a year, holds a special place in the hearts of devotees. During this festival, devotees make offerings of sweets, leaves, fruits, and milk to Lord Shiva, often fasting throughout the day as an act of devotion.


At Adhyatma Niketan, Maha Shivratri is celebrated each year with boundless enthusiasm and reverence. Devotees, or Sadhaks, gather for a day of Satsang, beginning with the study of sacred scriptures (Swadhyay), followed by the singing of devotional Shabds and Bhajans.
